Some Live the Legacy event pictures posted here and here.

Aloha!

To all who came and participated in LIVE the LEGACY, to all who braved the weather, to everyone who spoke, who volunteered, who tabled, who signed up, signed a petition, donated to a new cause, brought food, and shared their mana'o-- MAHALO PIHA!

It was standing room only (!!), and we were deeply moved by the overwhelming desire expressed last night to move forward, to do more!

So many important ideas shared last night, and here are a just a few that we had the chance to jot down:

- We need courage. In thought, in speech, in action. "The statement we make is directly proportional to the risks we are willing to take!"

- There is NO substitute for face-to-face interaction, getting out to the beach, going door-to-door, talking to people! So, let's get out there!

- We need to engage, inform, teach and train all people, but especially young people!! "Class can happen any where, any time, any place."

- "It's not that people don't care. It's that they see it all, all the problems, and it just seems too big, too impossible." We need good information, that is accessible to people, that shows what is at stake. We need to help people see that EVEN in a world like this one, their action, mind, and voice has an impact.

- When we use our voice, we have POWER, as people! "When I look at a room of people like this, the first thought that comes to mind is, 'You don't know how much POWER you have!'"

We face enormous challenges -- deep pockets and enormous problems... and yet, in the face of incredible "selfishness, greed, and arrogance," it has been shown over and over that when we truly engage people, when we are informed and focused, when we are courageous, when we are united, when we join our hearts and minds and voices, there is NO LIMIT to what we can accomplish in the world.  And, we heard so many stories and examples last night!

On behalf of all of us here at KAHEA, special thanks to everyone on the speakers panel who gave so generously of their time and mana'o (including Ikaika and Kapena!), to Norman for sound, Manny, Pete and Oren for not abandoning us, Marjorie, TK, Kyle, Colleen, Mark and the staff at rRedElephant, staff at Church of the Crossroads, our friends at Styrophobia, Tim, Scott, Carolyn (and the rest of the "flyer flies"), Lanny, David, and the countless others (sorry for all the many I missed naming here!) that made last night possible. And thank you to John, for the gift of the life he lived, the lessons he left for us, and legacy of ACTION that today belongs to all of us. Mahalo.

Please join us in continuing to share with others, the spirit of all that was expressed and learned last night!

Aloha,
Miwa + Marti, La'akea, and Bryna
